Abby Hord

Abby Hord, Percheron breeder, is based in Ashland, OH in Northeast Ohio near Cleveland. She has more than 15 years of experience with draft horses and holds memberships with the American Percheron Horse Association and the Ohio Draft Horse Society. All her Percherons receive regular veterinary checkups, DNA-based genetic screening, routine farrier care, dental exams and balanced nutrition plans.

The farm occupies rolling fields with a classic barn, providing sheltered stalls and pasture rotation that promote healthy hooves and social bonds. Her training philosophy emphasizes calm handling, early groundwork paired with positive, gentle reinforcement techniques. Foals are raised in a family environment where children and local visitors can observe daily routines and basic handling sessions. Several of her young horses have placed at regional halter classes and draft horse shows across the Midwest, reflecting the breed’s steady temperament and versatility.
