American

The American Moose, known as the largest and most robust variety of moose native to North America, boasts an impressive stature and distinctive characteristics that set it apart from other moose breeds. Recognized for their massive, palmate antlers, which can span over six feet across in mature males, these moose are a symbol of strength and endurance. They possess a unique adaptation to the North American climate, with long legs designed to navigate deep snow and forage on a variety of vegetation.

Their thick, water-resistant fur enables them to withstand harsh winters, while their broad muzzle and large nostrils are adapted for efficient heat exchange. Typically inhabiting boreal forests and mixed woodlands, the American Moose is also a versatile forager, feeding on aquatic plants in summer and woody vegetation in winter. Characterized by a dark brown to black coat, they are solitary, typically coming together only during the rutting season.

Despite their imposing size, American Moose are surprisingly agile and can sprint at speeds up to 35 miles per hour when threatened. Their presence in the ecosystem is vital, shaping vegetation patterns and supporting biodiversity.
