Marble Eye

Gene

Marble Eye is a recessive leopard gecko eye trait that gives the eye a speckled, three-dimensional marbled look, and the amount of marbling varies from gecko to gecko. A gecko needs two copies to show it. Test crosses show it is a different gene from Eclipse, so a Marble Eye bred to an Eclipse gives normal-eyed babies.

How Marble Eye works

Leopard geckos show Marble Eye only with two copies. One copy makes a het, which looks normal but can pass Marble Eye on.

Nearly every care decision follows from those four facts, and most advice online ignores at least one. Three pillars of the […]

How Long Do Leopard Geckos Live? Lifespan, Aging, and Records

Veterinary references place leopard gecko longevity around 20 years in captivity, and a well-documented animal can reach or exceed 20. The Royal Veterinary College says up to 20 years, Merck lists 20-plus, and the University of Montreal veterinary hospital gives a 20-year captive average. Those are planning references, not a guarantee. Date of hatch, lifelong […]
