Bell Albino

Bell Albino

Gene

Bell albino is one of the recognized recessive albino lines in leopard geckos, separate from Tremper and Rainwater albino. Bell albinos often show warm brown, lavender, pink, or orange tones, with eyes that can appear lighter or pinkish compared with normal geckos. Because the albino lines are genetically distinct, a Bell albino bred to another albino line will not automatically produce albino offspring.

For owners, Bell albino care follows normal leopard gecko practice: a secure dry enclosure, warm hide, cooler retreat, humid shedding hide, calcium and vitamin support, and suitable insect prey. Bright light may bother some albino geckos, so hiding options matter. Breeders should keep Bell-line identity clear in records and sales descriptions, especially when combining it with Eclipse, tangerine, stripe, or snow projects.

How Bell Albino works

Leopard geckos show Bell Albino only with two copies. One copy makes a het, which looks normal but can pass Bell Albino on.

Reported risk · Health

Albino leopard geckos have less pigment in the eye and are reported by breeders to be sensitive to bright light. The studies of these strains do not address it.

Leopard Gecko Care: Enclosure, Heat, UVB, Feeding, and Shedding

A leopard gecko comes out at dusk, lives on the ground rather than in branches, closes its eyes with real eyelids, and takes most of its body heat from whatever it is lying on. Nearly every care decision follows from those four facts, and most advice online ignores at least one. Three pillars of the […]

How Long Do Leopard Geckos Live? Lifespan, Aging, and Records

Veterinary references place leopard gecko longevity around 20 years in captivity, and a well-documented animal can reach or exceed 20. The Royal Veterinary College says up to 20 years, Merck lists 20-plus, and the University of Montreal veterinary hospital gives a 20-year captive average. Those are planning references, not a guarantee. Date of hatch, lifelong […]
