Japan Blue
Japan blue guppies carry a bright iridescent blue area, often along the lower body or caudal peduncle, that can look electric against a slimmer guppy frame. The trait is associated with Japanese-developed lines and has been crossed widely into Endler-type and fancy guppy strains. Depending on the breeding program, Japan blue may be paired with swordtails, delta tails, wild-style markings, or cleaner solid finnage. The label should describe a specific inherited blue placement, not any blue guppy.
The value of a Japan blue line lies in the sharpness, position, and consistency of the blue. Breeders usually keep males and females from recorded pairings so the trait does not disappear into mixed fancy stock. These guppies suit planted tanks with peaceful companions, good lighting, stable livebearer water, and enough cover for females and fry. Anyone maintaining the strain should control breeding numbers and remove off-type fish from the program rather than letting the group become an attractive but genetically unclear community-tank mix.
