Fancy
A fancy guppy is a domesticated ornamental guppy selected for color, pattern, body shape, and fin form rather than a wild-type appearance. The term can cover delta tails, mosaic tails, albino lines, tuxedo patterns, metallic bodies, and many mixed pet-store strains. It is a broad label, useful when the fish is clearly ornamental but not being identified as one precise show strain.
Fancy guppies are hardy in good conditions, yet the most elaborate lines may be more delicate than plain feeder or wild-type guppies. Large fins need peaceful tankmates and clean water, while breeding groups need enough females, cover for fry, and a plan for surplus young. Buyers should look past color and choose fish that swim strongly, hold their fins open, and show no bent spine or clamped posture.
