Dumbo Ear
The dumbo ear guppy, also called an elephant ear guppy, is selected for enlarged pectoral fins that flare beside the body. Those fins can make the fish look wider and more animated as it turns, especially when paired with bright body color or a large tail. The trait occurs in many color strains, so dumbo ear describes finnage rather than one color family.
Because the enlarged pectoral fins are part of the appeal, tank conditions should reduce tearing and fatigue. Gentle current, smooth decor, and peaceful companions matter more than they would for a plain short-finned guppy. Breeders select for even pectoral size, strong swimming, and normal feeding response, since exaggerated fins should not interfere with movement. Buyers should avoid fish that hover weakly or hold one pectoral fin clamped.
