Dragon
A dragon guppy is a fancy strain associated with heavy metallic color, often a pale or silver body plate paired with vivid tail color. The name is used most often in ornamental guppy trade circles for fish with a bold, armored-looking sheen rather than a single fixed standard. Dragon lines may be red, blue, yellow, or multicolor, and they are commonly crossed with delta and half-black types.
Dragon guppies are kept like other fancy guppies, but the metallic effect is easiest to appreciate in clear water and steady lighting. Breeders need to preserve both the body sheen and the fin color, since crossing out can quickly produce muddier offspring. When buying, it is worth checking females from the same line when possible, because male display color alone does not show how consistently the trait will breed.
