Indo‑Chinese Green
Indo-Chinese Green refers to the mainland Southeast Asian form of the Green Peafowl, often associated with Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and nearby regions depending on taxonomy. It is a geographic form of Pavo muticus rather than a domestic breed. These birds are part of a species valued for conservation because wild populations have been reduced by habitat loss, hunting pressure, and fragmentation.
Captive management should be deliberate and well documented. Indo-Chinese Green Peafowl need large predator-secure enclosures, cover, roosting space, dry areas, and diets that support pheasant health without obesity. Breeding should avoid casual mixing with other Green Peafowl forms or Indian Peafowl if the goal is conservation or accurate education. Institutions and serious aviculturists should keep source records, hatch records, and transfer notes so birds retain value beyond their appearance.
