Burmese Green
Burmese Green refers to the Burmese regional form of the Green Peafowl, Pavo muticus, historically associated with Myanmar and nearby mainland Southeast Asia. Green Peafowl are wild pheasants, not domestic peafowl breeds, and the regional labels describe geographic forms rather than barnyard varieties. Burmese birds are generally discussed in conservation and specialist aviculture because Green Peafowl populations have declined sharply across much of their range.
Management belongs with experienced institutions or highly prepared private keepers, where legal status, enclosure scale, biosecurity, and conservation value can be handled responsibly. Green Peafowl need large planted aviaries or secure ranges, careful pairing, protection from cold and predators, and diets suited to pheasants. Breeding records matter because mixing regional forms can reduce the value of birds held for conservation planning, education, or studbook-style population management.
