Crossbred

A crossbred Green Peafowl is a bird with mixed ancestry involving Green Peafowl regional forms or possible crossing with other peafowl. Because Pavo muticus is a threatened wild species in much of its range, crossbred status matters more than it might in ordinary domestic poultry. A crossbred bird may still look green-peafowl-like, but it should not be represented as a clean Burmese, Javan, Indo-Chinese, or conservation-pure line.

Keepers should be transparent about ancestry before breeding, sale, or educational display. Green Peafowl require large secure spaces, careful nutrition, parasite control, and protection from harsh weather. Crossbred birds may be suitable for private ornamental collections where legal and welfare standards are met, but they usually have limited value for conservation breeding. Clear records prevent accidental use in programs that depend on regional identity and genetic integrity.
