Polar Fox
The polar fox gerbil is a fancy color name used for Mongolian gerbils with a very pale white or creamy coat and darker point shading on areas such as the nose, ears, feet, or tail. The points may be light, medium, or dark, and they can look stronger as the animal matures or between molts. It is a variety within the domestic gerbil rather than a separate breed in the dog or livestock sense, and naming can vary among breeders and registries. Similar pale pointed gerbils may be listed as Himalayan-type, white-pointed, or related color terms depending on the background genes.
Care is the same as for other gerbils, though pale coats make damp bedding and urine staining easier to spot. A glass tank or deep-sided enclosure suits their digging habits better than a shallow cage, and stable companionship is important because gerbils are social animals. Gentle handling from below is safer than grabbing the tail. Breeders working with polar fox lines normally keep careful color notes, since pointed and white-based varieties can be hard to distinguish when pups are young and mismatched pairings can produce unexpected colors.
