Tiger is a line-bred carpet python trait rather than a single gene, developed by selecting coastal carpet pythons for long stripes running down the body in place of the usual blotches. How strongly the striping shows varies from snake to snake and improves with careful selection over generations. Because it is polygenic, tiger does not follow simple inheritance ratios.
