Diamond
Locality
Diamond is the hobby name for Morelia spilota spilota, the diamond python of coastal New South Wales and far eastern Victoria, Australia, the southernmost carpet python form. Its pattern is typically black with cream or yellow spots grouped into diamond-shaped rosettes. Diamonds come from a cooler climate than other carpet pythons and are generally considered more demanding in captivity, needing a moderate heat gradient and a cool winter period. Diamond-jungle and diamond-coastal crosses are common in the trade and should be labeled as crosses.
