Carpet Python

Granite

Morph

Granite is a recessive pattern mutation in carpet pythons (Morelia spilota) that first appeared in a captive line of Irian Jaya carpet pythons in the Netherlands. Granites have a dense, finely speckled pattern instead of the usual blotches, which gives them a stone-like look. The trait has since been bred into other carpet python forms and combined with other mutations, such as albino to make granite albinos, so record the locality or cross separately and keep lineage notes with each snake.
