Coastal
Locality
Coastal is the hobby name for Morelia spilota mcdowelli, the carpet python of coastal eastern Australia, from northeastern New South Wales through eastern Queensland. It is usually the largest carpet python form, with adults commonly 6 to 9 feet. Color is variable, typically olive, tan or brown with darker blotches and lighter flecks.
Many captive coastals carry jungle or other carpet python ancestry, so keep locality and lineage notes with each animal. Color mutations such as jaguar, albino and caramel are separate from the form and can appear in coastal lines.
