Motley

A motley boa constrictor is a pattern morph that changes the normal saddle arrangement into linked, circular, striped, or chain-like markings. Many motleys have a cleaner dorsal pattern and reduced side pattern compared with wild type boas, though line and combination genes can shift the look. The morph is widely used because it interacts strongly with albino, hypo, anery, jungle, and sunglow projects, often producing a more organized or striped appearance.

Care is the same as for other boa constrictors, but breeding choices deserve attention. Some super motley or sterling-related pairings have been associated with serious health or viability concerns, so responsible breeders consider more than visual outcome. Buyers should ask whether a motley is a single-gene animal or part of a combination, and whether the breeder has kept records on growth, feeding, and related animals from the same lines.
