Albino
An albino boa constrictor is a captive color morph of the boa constrictor, Boa constrictor, lacking most dark melanin pigment. Instead of the usual brown, tan, and black saddle pattern, albino boas show cream, yellow, orange, and red tones, often with pinkish or ruby eyes. Several albino lines occur in the boa hobby, including Kahl albino and Sharp albino, and they are not always interchangeable in breeding projects. The label should be read as a morph description, not as a separate species or locality.
Husbandry is broadly the same as for other boa constrictors: a secure enclosure, a warm basking area, stable humidity, and appropriately sized whole-prey meals. Albino animals may be more sensitive to harsh lighting, so bright heat lamps should be set up with retreats and shade rather than forcing the snake to remain exposed. Breeders need accurate records because albino is inherited recessively within its line, and pairing incompatible lines can produce normal-looking offspring carrying different genes. Buyers should ask about adult size, feeding history, and parentage, not color alone.
