Standard
A standard bearded dragon usually means a Pogona vitticeps with ordinary bearded dragon scaling and body type, rather than a leatherback, silkback, Dunner, or other scale-altering morph. It may be wild-type brown and tan, or it may come from color projects such as citrus, hypo orange, hypo red, hypo white, or yellow lines. The back has the expected rough, keeled scales, with spines along the head, throat, and sides. Because sellers sometimes use standard to mean normal color and sometimes to mean standard-scaled, the exact meaning should be confirmed.
Standard-scaled dragons are popular in homes, schools, rescues, and breeding collections because their skin has the natural texture and protection typical of the species. They need the same essentials as other central bearded dragons: strong UVB, a controlled basking area, space to move between warm and cooler zones, and age-appropriate food. Hidden genetics can still matter; a standard-looking animal may be het hypo or het trans, or may come from a color line without showing much color itself. For breeding or buying, clear labels are more useful than assuming standard means genetically plain.
