Mixed Morph

A mixed morph bearded dragon is a captive Pogona vitticeps whose appearance comes from several color, pattern, or scale traits rather than one named line. In the pet trade the term may cover combinations such as hypo citrus, het trans, leatherback, Dunner, tiger patterning, orange, red, or other line-bred influences. It can also be used when the exact ancestry is not documented. Because bearded dragon morph names are not managed by a single registry, mixed morph is best read as a descriptive label instead of a standardized breed.

For keepers, a mixed morph should be chosen by body condition, appetite, alertness, and breeder transparency, not by the longest list of genes. Husbandry is the same as for other central bearded dragons: dependable UVB, a measured basking zone, dry ventilation, appropriately sized feeders, and daily access to greens as the animal matures. Anyone planning to breed should separate visible traits from het genes, since recessives such as hypo or trans can be carried without showing. If records are vague, the safest approach is to keep the animal as a pet or label offspring conservatively.
