Hypo Trans
A hypo trans bearded dragon combines two recessive morphs in Pogona vitticeps: hypomelanistic and translucent. Hypo reduces dark pigment and is usually associated with clear nails, while translucent affects skin and eye appearance, especially in juveniles. Young hypo trans dragons may show a bluish or dusky belly, cleaner body color, and dark, often solid-looking eyes; the translucent effect usually becomes less obvious as the animal matures. The combination is common in citrus, orange, red, white, and leatherback projects because it can make line-bred colors look softer and brighter.
Care should stay centered on normal bearded dragon needs rather than the label: strong UVB, a safe basking temperature, varied feeders, greens, calcium, and regular weight monitoring. Gene-stacked animals come from narrower breeding pools in some collections, so vigor matters. Breeders should know whether both parents carry hypo and translucent, since visual results are predictable only when the genetics are tracked. Before buying, check that the dragon is eating aggressively, shedding normally, and has clear eyes, good posture, and no signs of dehydration.
