Platinum
Platinum Asian arowana is a pale, silvery-white captive variety of Scleropages formosus. The platinum look may be linked to reduced pigment expression and line selection, producing a fish with a bright body, light scales, and a cleaner white or silver cast than green or golden forms. Because pale arowanas show marks easily, body condition, scale quality, and fin edges are especially noticeable. The term can be used differently among farms, so documentation matters.
A platinum Asian arowana is not easier to keep because it is pale or expensive. It still needs the same large, covered aquarium, warm water, powerful filtration, and careful feeding expected for a big surface predator. Trade rules and legal origin records are central to responsible ownership of Asian arowanas, including platinum-labeled fish. Buyers should ask for certificate and microchip information where applicable, then inspect the fish for clear eyes, steady swimming, intact barbels, and signs of stress or poor handling.
