Timneh
The Timneh African grey is the smaller, darker grey parrot traditionally grouped with African greys and now often recognized as Psittacus timneh by many taxonomic authorities. It has charcoal-gray body feathering, a maroon rather than bright red tail, and a horn-colored patch on the upper beak. Compared with Congo African greys, Timnehs are usually stockier and may mature a little earlier, though individual personality varies widely.
Timneh care requires the same seriousness expected for any long-lived parrot: room to move, daily social contact, problem-solving enrichment, a vegetable-rich diet, and veterinary care from someone familiar with birds. They can be excellent learners, but pressure to talk can create stress if basic trust is ignored. Breeders and adopters should keep identification, hatch, and transfer records clear, especially because Timnehs may be confused with Congo greys or crossbred birds in older listings.
