Woody Creek Farm

Woody Creek Farm raises fainting (myotonic) goats in Petersburg, Tennessee, in the heart of Marshall County — widely regarded as the cradle of the myotonic goat breed. Debbie Mullins tends a herd of approximately 75 registered myotonics, with the program built around producing animals that are sound for both the farm and the show ring.

The farm's roots with fainting goats go back to the 1930s, and that long local history is reflected in the quality of the bloodlines Woody Creek has developed. Those lines have produced Myotonic Goat Registry national champions and permanent grand champions, as well as a world grand champion buck, making Woody Creek Farm one of the more decorated programs among fainting goat breeders in Tennessee.

Kids are raised on a 14% grain ration, mixed grass hay, and free-choice minerals. They have daily pasture access and spend nights in the barn, and Debbie monitors does and kids closely from late pregnancy through weaning. The herd has historically tested negative for CAE, CL, and Johne's disease. Petersburg sits in south-central Tennessee, about 20 miles southeast of Shelbyville, in the same rolling hill country where myotonic goats have been kept for well over a century.
