WindWalker Pugs
WindWalker Pugs has been breeding champion-line pugs in Gig Harbor, Washington since 1994, making it one of the longer-running pug programs in the Pacific Northwest, about 30 miles from Tacoma. Sandra Morgan founded the kennel, and its roots trace back to a family pug named Fern, whose great-grandson went on to earn an American championship title.
The program operates as a hobby show kennel focused on both fawn and black AKC-registered pugs bred to AKC conformation standards. WindWalker holds AKC Breeder of Merit status and maintains memberships in the Pug Dog Club of America, the Gig Harbor Kennel Club, and the Canadian Kennel Club. Dogs are shown in both AKC and CKC conformation events, and several WindWalker pugs carry American, Canadian, and Mexican championship titles.
Health screening is a stated priority: dogs are tested for PDE/NME (Pug dog encephalitis) susceptibility through genetic testing, and all results are made available. Puppies are raised alongside their littermates well past the typical eight-week mark, with placement generally beginning at four to five months to allow time for evaluation, vaccination, microchipping, and early training. Retired show dogs are also rehomed after spay or neuter. The kennel additionally supports pug rescue organizations nationally and contributes to the PDCA's Pug Health Fund.
