Wildfire Golden Retrievers has been raising golden retrievers in Chandler, Arizona, in the greater Phoenix metro area, with a program that traces its roots back to 1977. The kennel was founded by Deborah and Larry Wheat and brings more than 40 years of experience to breeding golden retrievers in Arizona.

The program centers on producing dogs that closely conform to the breed standard, with a strong emphasis on temperament, soundness, and trainability. Every dog in the breeding program is required to pass OFA certifications for hips, elbows, heart (evaluated by a cardiologist), and eyes on an annual basis, along with DNA genetic testing through the GRCA. Dogs from this program have competed and earned titles in conformation, obedience, rally, tracking, agility, barn hunt, dock diving, and therapy and service work.
