Wilder Sheep Company LLC

Wilder Sheep Company has been raising Suffolk sheep in Caldwell, Idaho, in the Treasure Valley west of Boise, since Steve Wilder founded the registered Suffolk operation in 1968. Show lamb genetics were introduced to the flock in 2001, broadening the program beyond its original range-ram roots.

Steve and his son Brett, along with their families, run the operation today. Brett and his wife Liz returned to the family ranch in 2020 as full partners, bringing the program into its next generation on a property that dates back to 1873 as a recognized Idaho Century Farm. The flock carries both registered Suffolk ewes and crossbred show ewes, reflecting a program built around the idea that high performance and practical functionality are not mutually exclusive.

The operation participates in the National Sheep Improvement Program and the United Suffolk Sheep Association, where it has also engaged with the USSA's percentage registry to selectively incorporate outside genetics and strengthen the flock over time.
