Vorthmann Limousin

Vorthmann Limousin has been raising registered Limousin cattle on the rolling terrain of Treynor, Iowa, in Pottawattamie County, since Roger and Ann Vorthmann bought their first Limousin bull in 1976. The operation sits roughly 20 miles east of Council Bluffs, in the heart of southwestern Iowa's cattle country.

What began as a commercial herd gradually shifted to a dedicated seedstock program after the Vorthmanns saw the muscling and performance those early Limousin calves delivered. The herd today runs around 60 cows and heifers alongside two herd bulls, and the operation produces registered Limousin and Lim-Flex cattle, with seedstock bulls, show heifers, and bred females making up the core of what is offered through an annual fall private treaty sale.

Roger has served on the board of directors for the North American Limousin Foundation, and the family holds memberships in the Iowa Cattlemen's Association, the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, and is a Founder Lifetime member of the Heartland Limousin Association. The farm also grows corn, soybeans, alfalfa, and cover crops, keeping the operation diversified across both row crops and livestock.
