A Golden4U has been raising golden retrievers in Scottsville, Virginia since 1995, making it one of the longer-running programs for golden retriever puppies in central Virginia. Vickie Walker Catlett leads the operation, which sits in the Piedmont region roughly 30 miles south of Charlottesville.

Vickie's path to goldens started with dalmatians, then moved through showing and breeding chow chows, before she settled on the breed that became her lifelong focus. Her adult children now take part in the program alongside her, carrying forward a multi-generational commitment to bettering the breed for local families.

Health testing follows GRCA guidelines for all breeding dogs, and the program also offers a board-and-training option for new puppies. The setup is open to visits, giving prospective families a chance to see how the dogs are kept and meet the adults in person.
