Uinta Valley Pack Llamas

Uinta Valley Pack Llamas raises ccara llamas in Wyoming's Bridger Valley, not far from the Wyoming-Utah border and the high country of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Jake Hicks and his partner Taylor started the operation in 2019 after sourcing their first animals to support high-country mule deer hunts where horses were difficult to take.

Over time the Hicks worked through buying and selling many animals to identify llamas genuinely suited to packing, and they brought in registered studs specifically to strengthen herd genetics. Males are halter broke at one year of age, introduced to saddles and panniers at two, and gradually conditioned with increasing loads before joining the full pack string at four. The program holds its packers to a working standard of 70 or more pounds carried comfortably at maturity. Females are halter broke, desensitized, and directed toward the breeding program.

For buyers searching for pack llamas for sale in Wyoming, Uinta Valley Pack Llamas offers animals selected and developed with a clear backcountry performance standard in mind. Standing studs are also available for outside breedings.
