Thousand Hills Canine

Thousand Hills Canine, run by Myron Hochstetler and his family, raises bichon frise, cavalier King Charles spaniel, Havanese, standard poodle, and Boston terrier puppies in Shipshewana, Indiana, in the heart of LaGrange County's Amish country, roughly 40 miles north of Fort Wayne. The operation has been active since 2004 and is a family-run LLC with four children involved in the day-to-day care of the dogs.

Parent dogs are OFA certified for knees, heart, and eyes, and are genetically tested by breed. All puppies are enrolled in the AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T. program, and the kennel holds USDA and Indiana Board of Animal Health (BOAH) licensing. The program also participates in Purdue University's Canine Care Certified voluntary welfare standard.

Puppies and adult dogs alike have daily access to a play yard, and socialization with the Hochstetler family begins from an early age. Basic crate, potty, and leash training are introduced before puppies leave. Each puppy is vet checked, current on vaccinations, and covered by a two-year health guarantee against life-threatening congenital disorders.
