Thoreson Dorpers

Thoreson Dorpers is a breeder of Dorper sheep in Zumbrota, MN, serving Southeastern Minnesota near Rochester. With more than ten years of flock management as a family operation, the farm follows National Dorper Association guidelines and performs regular health screenings, including parasite control and foot health assessments.

Lambs are started on pasture rotation early and spend ample time with family handlers to encourage gentle, adaptable behaviors and a calm disposition. Housing consists of well-ventilated barns and access to fresh water throughout the season, reflecting the farm’s commitment to livestock well-being.

Several animals have placed at regional fairs, demonstrating steady development in both conformation and fleece quality. Owner Colton Thoreson applies a blend of time-honored husbandry and ongoing pasture improvements to sustain a healthy flock year after year. The farm also engages in sustainable grazing practices that help restore grassland ecology while producing robust, healthy lambs suitable for diverse climates.
