The Other Side Farm

The Other Side Farm is home to well-socialized miniature zebus in a rural part of the US near a metropolitan area. John Schmidt has over a decade of experience breeding miniature zebu cattle, is a member of the American Zebu Association, and follows veterinary-approved health screenings and genetic testing for common breed conditions. The ranch features pasture-based grazing, daily socialization and calving barns that allow mothers and calves to bond under close supervision.

Offspring have gone on to show in local fairs, recognized for calm temperament and adaptability. Schmidt emphasizes rotating pastures to maintain soil health and foster sustainable foraging habits. Calves are raised alongside adult herd members to ensure healthy social development and resilience. Biosecurity measures are in place to prevent disease introduction and maintain herd health. Each animal’s records include pedigree, vaccination history and performance metrics to aid buyers.
