Teesdelights and Susans Fiber Shop raises Teeswater sheep in Columbus, Wisconsin, situated in Columbia County roughly 30 miles northeast of Madison. Susan McFarland has been working with the breed since 2005, when she started her flock with five ewes and began her first artificial insemination work with sheep.

A spinner and weaver by background, Susan approached the program with a fiber artist's eye, ordering raw wool samples from UK breeders and corresponding directly with English Teeswater producers to benchmark her flock's fleece quality and breed type. Her focus has been on maintaining the breed's characteristic dark nose, feet, and ears — a look she has spent more than a decade refining.

That dedication carried international weight: in 2014, Susan arranged for UK breed judge Darrell Pilkington to evaluate the flock, and in 2015 six of her sheep were recognized into the UK Teeswater Breed Association — a distinction that, at the time, had never been achieved by American-bred sheep. The shop operates as a full fiber-arts destination as well, carrying the process from live Teeswater sheep through to finished products, and Susan, a former art teacher, brings that educational background into the fiber community.
