Sunfire Woods
Sunfire Woods is raising Kiko goats in Cocolalla, Idaho, in Bonner County and the Idaho Panhandle near Coeur d'Alene. The herd is registered with the American Kiko Goat Association and undergoes regular health screenings for parasites and hoof care. The goats graze on rotational pastures shaded by cedar and pine, and they receive daily social interaction from the Hyder family to support friendly temperaments.
Kidding shelters are cleaned daily, and both does and kids receive individualized attention during birthing season. Breeding focuses on the Kiko goat’s known hardiness by selecting for parasite resistance and sound feet to suit the local climate. Operated by James and Kerry Hyder, the farm combines small-scale breeding with sustainable woodland management on a century-old property. Several of the does have earned working titles in heritage livestock showcases, reflecting the farm’s attention to breed standards and functionality.
