Still River Ranch

Still River Ranch raises registered Hereford cattle in Van Alstyne, Texas, situated in Fannin County just south of the Red River near Bonham and roughly an hour north of the Dallas metro area. Larry T. and Mary Woodson run the operation, which has been active for more than 67 years.

The ranch operates as a pasture-based program with a clear focus on three production traits: high marbling, high production, and calving ease. Marbling has been a selection priority across multiple generations of cattle, and the cowherd's average marbling EPD places it in the top five percent for the Hereford breed. Eye quality is another area of emphasis, with the program placing value on both eye pigmentation and eye conformation in the animals it raises and the bulls it uses.
