Splendor Farms

Splendor Farms raises longhair dachshunds in Bush, Louisiana, about an hour north of New Orleans on the Northshore. Owner Kelly Denise McKinney has been showing, raising, and rescuing miniature and standard longhair dachshunds for over 27 years, with the kennel operating as part of a 75-acre working farm in St. Tammany Parish.

The program holds AKC Dachshund Breeder of Merit status and operates in full compliance with AKC standards. The kennel is licensed by the State of Louisiana and inspected yearly by St. Tammany Parish Animal Services. Genetic health testing covers Brucellosis, PRA, hip dysplasia, and patellas, and all puppies carry a health guarantee against debilitating genetic issues.

Bloodlines are a central focus of the program. The kennel has cultivated lines tracing back 12 to 15 generations to show kennels in Germany, England, and South Africa, and produces Champion and Grand Champion title holders in AKC conformation. Colors bred include English creams, reds, black and tans, and dapples, in both miniature and standard sizes. Splendor Farms breeds longhair dachshunds exclusively and places all dogs in approved homes only, with applications required before placement.
