Snappy Farm

Snappy Farm raises fainting (myotonic) goats in Mentone, AL, DeKalb County and the Lookout Mountain area near Chattanooga. Beverly E. Smith has been breeding registered fainting (myotonic) goats for more than ten years, is a member of the Myotonic Goat Registry, and follows state health testing guidelines. Kids are gently handled from birth to build calm temperaments, and adult does graze on open pastures with access to sturdy shelters.

Winter routines include deep-bedded pens stocked with soft pine shavings, while spring kidding takes advantage of mild days and fresh grass. The farm’s focus on maternal line selection and fiber characteristics supports both homestead livelihoods and artisan spinning projects. Many visitors comment on the herd’s friendly nature and sturdy health, reflecting a quiet hillside setting where each goat is known by name. Snappy Farm also supplies breeding stock across northern Alabama and makes small batches of brushed fiber available to local craftspeople.
