Slackwater Farm

Slackwater Farm, fainting (myotonic) goats, Dameron, MD, Southern Maryland near Annapolis. Slackwater Farm has bred fainting (myotonic) goats for over ten years and holds membership in the American Dairy Goat Association.

All adult goats are tested annually for caprine arthritis encephalitis, caseous lymphadenitis, and Johne’s disease to ensure herd health. Animals graze on wooded pasture with stream access and receive daily socialization from an early age to encourage gentle behavior. The farm follows rotational grazing practices and offers simple shelter in well-ventilated barns, reflecting a low-stress environment all year round.

Kids are weaned onto a diet of local hay blends and are handled by family throughout weaning, promoting trust and calm temperaments for future herds. Casey Edinger welcomes questions about lineage and bloodlines and provides detailed health records with each placement. The farm’s origins trace back to a small homestead herd, growing carefully by selection for hardy animals.
