Silver Star Ranch

Silver Star Ranch, run by Dave Sullivan in Celina, Texas, has been raising miniature Texas longhorn cattle since 2003, making it among the longest-established programs of its kind in the country. Located north of Dallas in the heart of the Collin County corridor, the ranch began with standard Texas longhorns and shifted its focus to the miniature variety after evaluating what the property could best support.

The herd is registered with both the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America (TLBAA) and the International Texas Longhorn Association (ITLA), and the ranch has a track record of producing show animals — including cows and heifers with Grand Champion credentials. Sullivan's size goal for the program targets animals at 42 inches or under at the hook, with much of the herd falling in the 38-to-40-inch range.
