Sanorka

Sanorka Samoyeds, based in Orrtanna, Pennsylvania, has been part of the Samoyed fancy since the 1960s, when owner Janice Hovelmann acquired her first dog from the well-regarded Park-Cliffe Kennels on Long Island. The kennel takes its name from that founding dog, Ch. Park-Cliffe Snowpack Sanorka, C.D., who won Best of Breed at the 1967 Samoyed Club of America National Specialty.

Decades of dedication to the breed have produced a number of notable dogs, including Ch. Sanorka's Moonlight Gambler, ROMC, who earned the title of Samoyed Club of America Top Stud Dog for eight years spanning 1991 through 2000. His son, Am/Can Ch. Sanorka's Moonlite Trip t' Ren J, held the SCA's second Top Stud Dog ranking in 1996 and 1999, was the SCA's Top Winning Dog in 1997, and won Best of Breed at the Canadian National Specialty in 1998. Sanorka samoyeds for sale in Pennsylvania carry a pedigree rooted in some of the most recognized dogs in the breed's modern history.

Janice has also contributed to the breed beyond her own kennel, serving on the Samoyed Club of America Board of Governors and judging at multiple national specialties, including the 1998 SCA National Specialty futurity. She is a longtime member of the Antietam Creek Samoyed Club, having served in leadership roles including president. The program is now based in south-central Pennsylvania, in the rolling countryside west of Gettysburg.
