Sandy Wilcoxen
Sandy Wilcoxen raises dairy cross goats at The Bunny Patch, a small herd operation on a historic cattle ranch in the Oro Valley area near Tucson, Arizona. Originally based in the Pacific Northwest, Sandy relocated the program to the Sonoran Desert and has continued developing a herd focused on both milk production and show conformation.
The herd is kept deliberately small so each animal receives individualized attention. Daily herd walks are part of the routine, and the goats are fed a diet of bermuda hay, alfalfa, vital herbs, and loose minerals. The program treats its animals as companions rather than strictly as livestock.
Sandy holds memberships with ADGA, AGA, and ANDDA, and participates in DHIA milk testing. The herd has been enrolled in the linear appraisal program since 2019, and the goats are shown at ADGA-sanctioned shows each year. The stated goal is to improve each generation not only for dairy output and structural correctness, but for the kind of temperament that makes dairy cross goats in Arizona genuinely enjoyable to work with.
