Sacred Acres Alpaca Farm
Sacred Acres Alpaca Farm alpacas, Palmyra, VA, are raised in central Virginia near Charlottesville. Since starting in 2015 as a family-run operation, owner Maryjane Cathers has bred huacaya alpacas, maintains membership in national alpaca associations and follows recommended health testing protocols for parasites, vaccinations and conformation assessments. Herds graze on rotational pastures and receive daily handling across acres of fenced pastureland to encourage curious, approachable temperaments. All animals retreat to a bright, three-stall barn fitted with heated bedding during colder months and are fed a balanced diet of hay and premium grain blends.
Every fleece is evaluated for density, staple length and micron count before shearing, then processed locally into yarn and roving for fiber artisans and knitters. The farm’s consistent ribbon placements at regional fairs reflect a dedication to sustainable practices and fiber quality. Visitors note the quiet paddocks and careful stewardship that shape each animal’s experience.
