Rosengard Ranch

Rosengard Ranch raises fainting (myotonic) goats on a small acreage in St. Pierre Jolys, Manitoba, about an hour southeast of Winnipeg. Shannon Bell and her husband Terry started the program in 2019 after acquiring their first four myotonic does from family members who were stepping away from the breed.

What began as a handful of does on a rural acreage in Mitchell, Manitoba has since grown into a herd of roughly 80 fainting goats. The ranch also raises miniature silky fainting goats alongside the standard myotonics. Shannon has deepened her knowledge of the breed through fellow breeders, veterinary guidance, and the Myotonic Goat Registry and Miniature Silky Fainting Goat Association communities, and has pursued hands-on education including attending goat camp in Texas at Onion Creek Ranch.

For those looking for fainting goat breeders in Manitoba, Rosengard Ranch is one of the few operations in the province focused specifically on this breed. The program reflects a family-run setup, with multiple generations involved in day-to-day care of the herd.
