Rockin' W Polled Herefords

Rockin' W Polled Herefords has been raising registered polled Hereford cattle in Schulenburg, Texas since 1984, when Maynard and Sandi Warnken started the operation with five show heifers purchased for their children's FFA program. Schulenburg sits roughly halfway between Houston and San Antonio, placing the ranch at the heart of Texas cattle country in Fayette County.

After the family relocated back to Schulenburg from Katy, the ranch grew steadily into a multi-generational operation. Today it spans approximately 1,300 acres across several tracts in Fayette County, with son Kevin Warnken managing day-to-day operations and younger family members actively involved in ranch work and showing.

The program maintains around 50 registered Herefords alongside 150 commercial cows used as recipients in an embryo transfer program. That program allows the ranch to work with leading sires to accelerate genetic progress in the herd. The stated breeding goal is to produce functional, fertile females that can raise a good calf — a practical, production-minded standard that has guided the ranch for decades. The Rockin' W has earned national recognition for its cattle, including national champion honors, and remains a member of the Texas Hereford Association.
