Revelation Knaani Canaan Dogs

Revelation Knaani Canaan Dogs, based in Marshall, Virginia, has spent over 25 years working with the Canaan dog, one of the rarest AKC-recognized breeds in the United States. David Golden and Cynthia Dodson run the program together, and their dogs have earned titles across conformation, performance events, and therapy work.

The kennel's show record is notable within the breed. Their dog "Avi" became the only Platinum Grand Champion and top Group-winning Canaan dog in history, and "Anni" holds the record as the number one lifetime owner-handled Canaan dog. In 2023, dogs bred by Revelation Knaani took Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, and Select at both the Westminster Kennel Club show and the Canaan Dog Club of America National Specialty.

Located in the Piedmont region of Northern Virginia, roughly an hour west of Washington, D.C., the program is among only a handful actively breeding Canaan dogs in the country. Golden and Dodson have also worked to import and export breeding dogs to support the breed's limited gene pool, and they participate in breed education events to raise awareness of the Canaan dog in Virginia and beyond.
