Pitchfork Ranch
Pitchfork Ranch has been raising Teeswater sheep in Swartz Creek, Michigan, about ten minutes south of Flint and roughly an hour northwest of Detroit, since Cindy Cieciwa founded the operation in 1986. What began as a 17-acre farm has grown to 30 acres, with a second parcel added across the road for hay production.
The flock stays intentionally small — typically thirty to thirty-five breeding ewes across all breeds — with Teeswaters, Bluefaced Leicesters, and classic llamas rounding out the program. Bloodlines include AI-sired rams sourced from UK genetics, and the ranch tracks Teeswater percentage carefully through each generation. Fleeces are either blanketed during the hay-feeding season or pastured, and all are well-skirted before sale; buyers looking for Teeswater sheep in Michigan will also find raw fleeces, roving, and other fiber products available alongside breeding stock.
Conformation, fleece quality, and reproductive soundness are central selection priorities for the program, which has placed animals with breeders across the country over its four decades in operation.
