Pinebank Angus
Pinebank Angus has been raising black Angus cattle in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand's North Island, near Masterton, since 1919. Willie Falloon is the third generation of the Falloon family to steward the operation, which was founded by the late Henry Falloon with just three cows and has remained a closed herd for decades.
The breeding program at Pinebank is built around a grass-only system, with no concentrates fed at any stage. The focus is on efficiency across the entire cow herd: every cow is expected to conceive annually regardless of seasonal conditions, and bulls are selected to deliver growth gains on grass alone. The cow herd runs around 250 head, with the aim of reaching 300.
The cattle themselves trace back to pure Scottish and New Zealand bloodlines, and the herd has operated as a closed genetic pool since 1965, drawing on a foundation tied to some of the most significant Angus imports into New Zealand last century. For those searching for black Angus cattle for sale in New Zealand with a proven forage-based pedigree, Pinebank's long-running selection program and multi-generational consistency set it apart from more recently established studs.
