Pacabella Farm Alpacas & Boutique

Pacabella Farm Alpacas & Boutique raises huacaya alpacas in Wirtz, Virginia, situated on 14 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills just a few miles from both Smith Mountain Lake and Roanoke. John and Robin Watson have tended their herd for approximately 17 years, building the farm into a recognized presence among alpaca breeders in Virginia.

The Watsons are members of the Alpaca Owners Association (AOA) and the Virginia Alpaca Owners & Breeders Association (VAOBA), and they participate in alpaca shows, which they view as a way to validate their breeding decisions and stay current with industry knowledge. The farm carries several herdsires available for breeding services, and when alpacas are offered for sale, the Watsons prefer to sell them in groups of at least three to support the animals' social wellbeing.

The herd is shorn once a year, and the fiber is dyed and spun into yarn sold through the on-site boutique. Alongside alpaca sales and boarding services, the farm is partially named for the Watsons' daughter Isabella, who grew up helping care for the herd from a young age.
