Outtabox Ranch

Outtabox Ranch, normande cattle and Belfairs & crosses, Hay Springs NE, Nebraska Panhandle near Chadron. Operated by H.E. Ahrens, the ranch has been dedicated to responsible cattle breeding for over a decade, maintaining membership in national breed associations and following recommended health protocols including regular veterinary screenings.

All cattle are pasture-raised on native grassland with a low-stress handling philosophy that emphasizes social herds and calm temperament. Calves receive daily turnout and early handling to promote gentle behavior and adaptability to diverse farm tasks. Herd health is monitored through routine hoof inspections and bovine wellness evaluations, ensuring animals thrive in open-range conditions. The ranch is also developing a miniature normande composite line to offer a compact breed suited for smaller properties, incorporating careful selection and DNA screening for consistency.
